Noxious Weed Cost Share
Program
The purpose of this program is
to assist the landowners of Harney County in controlling noxious weeds on
private lands.
Harney County has a very successful noxious weed control cost
share program. Funded through Harney County, and various grants, the
program is able to significantly help landowners in the control of Class A or B weeds on private land.
Applicants submit a project plan to the Harney County Weed
Board. The weed(s) must be listed as an "A" or "B" rated weed on the County
Noxious Weed List unless otherwise approved by the Board.
Applications are reviewed, prioritized and awarded by the Board. The cost share
rate is dependent on the amount of funds that are available and are on a first
come first serve basis. Reimbursement will be made to the applicant after
receipts have been received and verified at the Harney County Weed Control
office.
Only the cost of herbicides will be cost shared. Application
costs are not eligible for cost share under this program. The applicant is
responsible for the purchase of the chemicals and for assuring that the
manufacturer's label instructions for application, application rates and
disposal directions are followed. Access must be given to the Harney County Weed
Board or their designated representative for project evaluation and monitoring,
with prior approval from the applicant.
